After one of the biggest marketing and advertising days of the year, many people are spending this week critiquing and analyzing every commercial from Super Bowl 46. Personally, I thought there were only a few really worth while commercials along with an array of disappointing ads. Here is my list of the 5 best and 5 worst commercials of this year’s Super Bowl:

5 BEST COMMERCIALS:

5. Chevy Silverado – 2012

Loved every aspect of this ad! With General Motors back at the number one spot, for auto sales worldwide, I’m glad to see them spend a few bucks. The apocalypse and the Twinkies were a great combo for this type of ad. My favorite part was the dig at Ford at the end, priceless!!

4. Doritos – Man’s Best Friend

You didn’t see nuthin’! Now this one made me laugh! You can always count on Doritos for a good laugh during the Super Bowl.

3. Hyundai – All For One ft. The Rocky Theme

I enjoyed this very much. It was great to show employees of the company from many points throughout the company supply chain. It really painted a solid picture of the hard work put in by a company from the manufacturing and logistics level all the way to the corporate employees.

2. Bud Light – Rescue Dog

This commercial was awesome on two levels. First, you can always count on funny commercial from Bud Light during the Super Bowl. Second, at the end there is a message to “help rescue dogs” along with a link to their Facebook page. I admire companies that can promote a good cause, especially during such a large event, but I wish they would have done it a little more than two seconds.

1. Chrysler – It’s Halftime in America

This ad was just plain bad-ass! Clint Eastwood is a real American icon and was the perfect image that Chrysler could have ever asked for. Kudos to them for the message sent! But where was Chrysler in this ad?

5 WORST COMMERCIALS:

5. Old Navy – Corporado Pants

Ok, I was the exact type of customer they were reaching out at and they failed miserably. I am the cowboy type and the business type. So Old Navy decides to show me a guy standing on a rock doing a few moves? It wouldn’t have been so bad if they didn’t place this during the Super Bowl because it was a waste of money. I understand the market was there, but the overall brand is hurting so much that I don’t think they should have picked such a niche for a big time ad spot.

4. Teleflora.com – Adriana Lima

True what they say, sex sells! I give them credit for investing that kind of change for this spot, but disappointed with the delivery. Yes, there were a lot of men watching and yes, Adriana Lima is sexy, but the message I received wasn’t appropriate. From what I understand, if I buy flowers from Teleflora.com and give them to a girl I am for sure having sex with that girl. Men and women were highly stereotyped here. Bad message sent.

3. Verizon – Droid Razr Colors

Thanks for the update on colors, that’ll be $3.5M please! Waste!

2. H & M – David Beckham

Were they trying to sell me underwear? A guy wearing underwear and moving slowly, while the camera oogles him, will not make me want to buy underwear! Sure, the ladies may enjoy this and buy the product for their man, but I can’t say this was worth the money either.

1. GoDaddy.com – Both commercials!

I won’t even bother posting the video because it isn’t worth your time. GoDaddy has failed at commercials for a long time, yet they keep shelling out the money. All they sell is sex, not websites. I’d like to see the ROI of these Super Bowl commercials!

I’m sure there are many versions of this type of post and that many will agree/disagree, but I thought it’d be fun to make my first ever Super Bowl post. Let me know where your favorites rank!
